The first Christmas holiday of the one of the most brutal wars ever fought, the First World War, was also the scene of one of the most remarkable episodes of peacemaking ever recorded - the famous Christmas truce of 1914, in which enemy soldiers came out of their trenches and celebrated the holiday together. Jonathan speaks with a WW1 historian and also with an experienced expert in conflict resolution about this famous unexpected moment of peace, and what we can learn from it. Although many scientists believe we have learned almost all there is to know about the human anatomy, Professor of Anatomy Ivan Varga is among those who disagree. He speaks of his fascination with the microscopic world and the mystery of life, and why he thinks we are still a very long way from solving this as well as many other mysteries of the natural world.
